special hat...

Emma found a special hat in the freezer aisle in walmart. I promise, she did it all by herself. And we took a bath when we got home. :)

Emma and her friend, Jesus

(first, before I really start the "blog"... yes, I realize it has been over two months since I last blogged. Aaahh!!! Life has been crazy with the whole torn ACL-rehab, AP exams, end of year stuff, etc. We also were gifted with a computer that actually works so I can actually do stuff on the Internet now! I will try and catch up over the next few weeks!)

So lately, Emma has become fascinated with God and Jesus. Some insights:

- she loves to read from the Bible before her naptime. Her favorite: David and Goliath. She really laughs at the picture in her picture Bible of David with Saul's armor on. In her words... "That's silly!" And she does a great impersonation of the whale spitting out Jonah.

- I have come to realize how much she picks up on ...and learned I need to be more careful about what I expose her to! For example, I had the radio on the other day and Kelly Clarkson's new song came on. After about two bars, Emma turned to me and said, "this music is in your car!"...and yes, I have the CD in my car. We were listening to a praise CD in the car the other day and all of a sudden she blurts out - "This music is about Jesus!" She picked up on his name in the song. So now, she often asks to listen to "Jesus music" in the car. What is so precious is when she starts singing along to the songs! I can't believe she has picked up on the melody and lyrics so well!

- We have talked about how God provides our food, clothing, toys, etc. Well, again, in the car (most of our deep conversations happen in the car...don 't know why) one night she points to the white truck in front of us and says "he needs to thank God for his white truck...God gave him his white truck"

- And then the tricky question....I have the "Jesus music" in and she says...this music isn't about Jesus. And I say, "it's singing about God". And she says "God isn't Jesus, that's silly". So I tell her "Well, God and Jesus are the same person." Really, how do you express the idea of the trinity to a 3 year old?

- We were on our way to church, and Emma was excited because "Jesus was going to be there". So I say, "Well Jesus is everywhere- at church, at home, outside, and in our hearts".....pause to think about that. We pull up in the parking lot and she says "Jesus isn't here....I don't see his car!" and before I could respond she corrects herself and says "No..Jesus doesn't drive. He walks."

-Finally, the sweetest of them all. We were driving home listening to "Jesus music" and all of a sudden she says to Daniel and I " Remember when....Remember when I was a baby?....and Jesus came and took care of me?"

Yes, Sweet Emma Rose. Jesus did take care of you through all of your surgeries, the sleepless nights, the doctor's visits. And he will continue to take care of you, for He loves you greatly.
