So much going on!

So life has been crazy and has given me NO time to write anything! So here's the lowdown on the Montgomerys...some of this is out of order because Blogger took FOREVER to load photos and then the order is all wrong but it takes forever and a day to drag them into the order I want....so oh well!

1. We completely replaced our A/C. Yuck. The additional cost to get the whole unit replaced versus just the compressor was not too much more (I mean it was a lot, but not relatively speaking...I guess). So there goes another $2200. Fun. Not.

2. My daughter is completely adorable. It is getting so incredibly hard to leave her in the morning. Now, I try to leave before she wakes up. Easier for me...selfish, I know! I was trying to load two videos of her counting and calling out all of the letters in the alphabet, but my computer wouldn't let me. I'll work on that.

3. My daughter is also very small. :) At almost 28 months old, I bought her some new winter clothes. The pants are size 18 months, buttoned to the tightest on the adjustable waist, and she STILL sags and shows diaper! Not to worry, though...shirts are 2T because her head is so huge and her waist so long! It also helps save money, though....she is going to be wearing her same duck costume for Halloween as she did last year! We will just have to add some yellow socks to cover up her leg growth. We tried it on the other day and she was waddling around the living room- hey, she doesn't remember the costume, and that's the important part, right? :)

4. I survived yet another LCCS Spirit Week and Homecoming. This marks my 12th, I think. It was fun, though, because it was the first football homecoming since this is the first varsity football season. It's definitely a different feel and was a lot of fun! It helped that LCCS won in overtime! A lot of alumni showed up and it was just a good time! Of course everytime I see alumni that I have taught and they are getting married, graduating college, etc....makes me feel OLD!

Here are some pics:
The first homecoming parade- each class had a "float" ie. golfcart, the dancers, cheerleaders were there, pep band...and the elementary and middle school lined the parking lot. For the first time, it was a good start to a new tradition:

Homecoming Pep Rally- dance team, cheerleaders, and drum line

The tunnel of students and alumni after the game. I had to run to get out of the way so I wouldn't be run over, thus the blurriness:

Football at Lake Country...can you believe it?

My best friend, Kristen and I--- styling in our homecoming mums (that's new) and the vintage LCCS letter jacket!

5. Emma's legs are finally starting to get long enough to ride her bike! She has to sit way up at the front of the bike, but she loves it! As I came home one day, she and my mom were on a walk/ride, so of course, we had to race to the house! (Notice my oh-so-stylish daughter with her sunglasses on top of her head and socks with flip flops. Oh well, you win some, lose some)

Go, Emma, Go!!!!

6. As you probably know, I teach chemistry at LCCS. I love it when students actually find that they can be successful at a "hard" subject and they enjoy it! Well, one thing we did this year was celebrate "Mole Day" in my advanced classes. A mole is a unit of measurement in chemistry and represents 6.022 x 10^23 items...so on October 23, i.e. 10-23, we celebrated mole day! We had le-moleade, ani-mole cookies, and pin the nose on the El-mole. It was a fun 10 minutes or so then back to work! It also kinda went with the craziness of Spirit Week (hence the interesting attire in the pictures!) For some of you, here's a flashback to Dr. Bah's lab!! It's still there, and is now my home away from home!

7. The other day, Emma and I decided to bake! She loves to help- she's gotten a lot of experience with her Grandmommy Judy. So here we are mixing :
And of course, she knows the best part about baking is eating the batter!
But you must enjoy your hard work when it is finished!

8. We also went to the park one evening and had a great time. I wanted to post these photos of Emma playing this year, and then some from last year about this time at the same park. Oh how she has grown!

9. Emma has gotten to the point where she must be fully accessorized whenever we go "side" (ie. outside). Here's one of her latest "getups"- sunglasses, purse, baby, and Elmo backpack.

10. Daniel and I got to have some "adult time" recently when we went to a friend's wedding in Dallas:

Kristen and I:

11. Speaking of weddings, my first "real" student is getting married in November. There have been others that have gotten married who were students when I first started teaching, but this is the first one I actually taught. Wow....again, makes me feel old.
The bride, Lacey Flenner, and I:

12. Finally, as it is time for me to wrap up and go to bed, Emma has had a hard time sleeping lately. She's never been the most sound or longest of sleepers/nappers. I still wonder if all of her experiences in the hospital have influenced her somehow. For her first month, someone was checking her blood pressure and oxygen levels every 3 hours, even throughout the night! She often goes through spells of waking up for no apparent reason in the middle of the night and taking forever to fall back asleep. This past week has been bad- 3 times. Anyways, she also is having trouble going to sleep...one of the joys of having a child with the ability to climb out of bed is that she gets out of bed at the drop of a hat! Anyways, one night last week I went to go check on her before heading to bed myself, and I found this in the hallway!

So apparently, she was coming to get us, or just wasn't comfortable in her bed (we actually often find her on the floor near her bed) and just couldn't quite make it down the hallway! (Her bedroom is the door on the right!). She's so precious!
Blessings!!!! (especially if you took the time to read all of this!!!)

Escape!

In an effort to escape the heat that is our house...Emma and I went out on the town Saturday and then went to my parent's house on Sunday after church. We are currently staying there until the A/C is restored. I had my follow up appointment with the hand surgeon today, and I have minor surgery scheduled for November 4, election day. He's going to go in through a small incision and open up the "track" that the tendons work through in your fingers. That will give my tendons enough room to move and no more pain for me!

Anyways, here are some pictures of our adventures!

On the way out the door! (with our heels, of course!)

Playing on life-sized mushrooms at the mall.
Sometimes, short people need a little bit of help reaching things. (Barnes & Nobles)
Although not looking into the camera, she was actually kinda smiling in this picture! (there are about 10 others of her saying "cheese" which doesn't look too attractive once the picture was taken!)
Reading Dr. Seuss!
Playing at Central Market!
Who doesn't like the feel of sand on your face?
Golfing...Baseball...all the same to Emma!
Getting so good at putting on shoes all by herself!
Listening to some tunes with Daddy!

Bad News...

Bad News...

Our A/C compressor is shot. The guy was surprised for a unit as young as ours. Of course, I don't think we ever follow what is "normal" around here.

Cost to replace: approximately $800.

What a great way to start a weekend.

At least it's a long weekend.

But it's still hot in the house.

Cheers!

A Gift of Life...

So I did something today that I have been meaning to do for a while, but just haven't found the time/opportunity/energy to do so.

I donated blood today.

It was really easy and surprisingly painless. I think the little stick they give you in your finger first to test for your iron levels hurt more than the actual giving of blood. I almost didn't feel anything when it was time to hook me up!

As most of you know, Emma was on bypass during her first surgery at 9 days old, and she did require the precious gift of someone else's blood. I don't know (or remember) the exact numbers, but she did benefit from someone else's gift. So, it felt good to give back. And as I waited for the woman to start poking me with the needle, I just kept saying to myself...my amazingly strong and courageous daughter has been through this so often. She inspires me so.

On another, not-so-dramatic line of thinking, it's still hot in our house. But, the repair guy is coming tomorrow. I PRAY that it will be an easy and cheap fix! Keep those fans a-going!

The Good and the Bad...

The Good:

Vanderbilt is ranked #13! Go Dores!!!

The Bad:

Our A/C is out.

The Good:

It's not June.

Or July.

Or August.

Or September. (why do we live in Texas again??)

The Bad:

It's still hot in the house.

The Good:

God gave man the intelligence to make all sorts of fans: ceiling fans, oscillating fans, box fans. All of which are currently being used in our house!

What a week!

So I know it has been a long time. Last week was CRAZY!!!!

Here's the updates...

- Last weekend, Daniel went 4-wheeling with his brothers, so it was just Emma and I! On Saturday we did a lot of errands, and we ended the afternoon at Toys-R-Us, looking for bed rails to help Emma from falling out of bed. Well, they were out, but we had fun playing with the toys!Playing in the Emma-sized Jeep...
...and as we were leaving, waving to mommy from the fire engine (unfortunately, mommy did not even have two quarters for the machine...the change pocket was empty in my wallet!)
..and while she was at it, she also waved at Ernie, for good measure:
- Emma is so precious! On our way home from church group Wednesday night, we were all sitting in the cab of Daniel's truck, because that's where the car seat was. I was talking to Emma, and I asked her "Do you know where you get to go tomorrow?". She said no, so I told her "You get to go to school", meaning her mothers-day-out program. Well, her face took a second for it to sink in, and then her eyes got so wide and mouth opened into a big smile. She pointed at me and said "Ma-Ma!!!", because she knows I go to "school" every day.Unfortunately, I had to tell her that no, she was going to Emma's school, not mommy's school.
- She knows the numbers 1, 2,3, and 5. (four is still a mystery!). She not only recognizes them printed, but she recognizes them when you show her fingers, too. You can mix up the order and she can still tell you them! Four...she calls five...I think the word and vowel sounds are too hard. In the car today, she had her little play cell phone out, having conversations with who knows who, but she was finding the numbers on the phone and calling them out, and then trying to make the right number of fingers for the number, too! (Three is a little bit difficult, fingers-wise!). After playing with numbers, she then proceeded to feed her little Thumper bunny her chocolate milk, making "gulp gulp" sounds as Thumper "drank". I thank God everyday for Emma's life and joy!
-Daniel and I got a date night on Friday! How much fun! We met our friends from high school, Kim and Justin, downtown at Mi Cocina. It was such a nice night out, that we planned on eating on the patio. Well, I got there a little early, and put our names in. I was told 30 minutes-not bad I thought. Ya, it was an hour and thirty minutes before we sat down. Now, I know it's busy, and I had planned on waiting...but really, just give me a decent estimate of time. BUT, once we sat down we had a great time, and ate way too much. Daniel and I actually took a picture TOGETHER...a rare occurence!
Have a blessed week!
