In Heaven....

The other day as we were driving home from Daniel's parents' house, we passed a cross marker on the side of the highway, probably at the scene of an accident. Here's the conversation that followed between Emma and myself:

Emma: Did you see that cross mommy? Do you know what that is for? It's to remind us that Jesus died on the cross for us.

Mommy: That's right Emma

E: Mommy, why did Jesus die on the cross for us?

M: (trying to figure out how to answer this in a theologically correct way for a 4 year old!) So that we would believe in Him and go live in Heaven with him.

E: Like Aunt Carol is in heaven?
(Side note: Our Carol Joy is named after Daniel's Aunt Carol who died five years ago from cancer; obviously Emma never met her)

M: Yes, just like Aunt Carol in heaven. Won't it be fun to meet her one day in heaven?

E: Then Baby Carol could meet Aunt Carol! But she wouldn't be a baby anymore, she would be big like me. Aunt Carol's going to live with Jesus for a long time, isn't she?

M: Yes, a very long time!

So precious!!!

Emma Rose's first year of school!

We finished up Emma's first year of "school" last week. She attended LCCS Pre-Kindergarten with Mrs. Laxson and Mrs. Ackley on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Then she attended Primrose School/Daycare on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays with Mrs. Rusk and Mrs. Lunsford.

Although it was hard to drop her off in the morning at Primrose, I am so thankful for the social, physical, and academic progress she made at both schools. She has come so far, and I look forward to seeing her to continue to mature next year, when she will be at LCCS on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and with mommy the other days!!

With Mrs. Rusk and Mrs. Lunsford at Primrose
With Mrs. Ackley and Mrs. Laxson at LCCS (she wouldn't take the picture without me, and of course I didn't put on makeup that morning....ugh)

Carol Joy is TWO Months Old!!

June 5, 2010-- Two Months Old!

The best smile I was able to catch on camera...she smiles a whole lot bigger when she doesn't see the camera!

Working on those neck muscles!!

Sweet Carol Joy...

...you are 9 pounds, 4 ounces in the 10th percentile for weight
...you are 22 inches long in the 25th percentile for length
...you are in the 50th percentile for head circumference.
...you are right on track where your big sister was in size except for the head (she was over the 100th percentile!)
...you go to sleep for the night somewhere between 7pm-8pm and wake up somewhere in the 3 o'clock hour to eat, and then again at 6 o'clock.
...you are eating about 3 bottles a day after nursing with mommy...you need the extra nourishment to grow! But during the night it is just you and mommy!
...you survived mommy's last after-school inservice and cleaning out of mommy's classroom. You slept quite a bit on your playmat in her lab! Must have felt like a familiar place!
...you started to smile at mommy, daddy and sister!
...you were blessed by many special gifts from showers at church and LCCS.
...you are a sweet, easy-going baby. You only really cry when you are hungry or when you have gas. You will just go to sleep on your own when placed down in your bassinet.
...you are still wearing newborn clothes and diapers, and some 0-3 month clothes.
... you love swinging in your swing and laying on top of the changing table, looking at the light coming through the blinds.
...you are loved and an irreplaceable part of our family!
